One person has fallen victim to a flesh-eating bacteria that has infected 5 other people in the course of the last two months, Daily Mail reported. Rev. Linda Snyder, the Pastor from Sacramento United Methodist Church, died following a six-month battle with the deadly germ called necrotizing-fasciitis, which she contracted on January 6 after bacteria got into a wound, possibly an abscess, she had developed in December.

The aggressive germ, Necrotizing fasciitis, is known to have infected about 750 people a year in the United States, and about one-fifth are deadly. According to Wikipedia, the bacteria do not actually “eat” the tissue, but cause the destruction of skin and muscle by releasing toxins.
