Russia is said to be sending attack helicopters to Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime, and the shipment “will escalate the conflict quite dramatically,” AP reported US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as saying.
CNN report said although a Pentagon spokesman was unaware of a Russian helicopter shipment to Syria, Capt. John Kirby told reporters Tuesday al-Assad forces have been using helicopter gunships against their own people, calling the attacks “intolerable, unacceptable and just further evidence of the degree to which they are willing to kill their own people for twisted ends.”
Earlier, DebkaFile reported that US Navy and Air Force have been ordered to prepare for air strikes on Syria as part of a “no fly zone” that will enforced with the aid of British and France military power. Debkafile was the main news source quoted by all other news outlets.
Meanwhile, Iran reiterated its rejection of all forms of foreign interference in the Syrian internal affairs, according to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), stressing that the crisis in Syria should settled by the Syrians only.
