According to premillennial Christian interpretations, the Messiah will return to earth and defeat the Antichrist in the battle of Armageddon. John revealed in Revelation 9:16 that there would be another terrifying war prior to Armageddon that would begin at the sounding of the Sixth Trumpet. In this revelation, John saw the largest army ever assembled for the war and he even heard the number of the great force: Two hundred million! And the army heads to the West from the East. Many good clues for watchers.
This war would begin when four angels are loosed in the region of the Euphrates River. It would be a horrifying war that would take the lives of one-third of the population of the world, or roughly 2.3 billion lives.
Many bible scholars for decades have been speculating on where the 200-million-man army would come from, and many have found the answer in the coalition of China and many powerful Islamic nations united by their anti-Israel political and military spirit.
Consider half of the equation solved because, lo and behold, Iran just announced today that it is “mulling creation of 100-million-Strong Muslim Basij Army.”
“Tehran is studying formation of a 100-million-strong Muslim world Basij force,” FARS NEWS AGENCY quoted commander of Iran’s Basij force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi as saying on Sunday.
The Basij is a paramilitary volunteer militia, consisting of young Iranians, established in 1979 by order of the Islamic Revolution’s leader Ayatollah Khomeini. The Basij are set up as subordinate to, receiving their orders from, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the current Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei to whom they are known for their loyalty.
Iran sees similarities between the popular uprisings in Muslim countries such as Tunisia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Libya, and the Iranian revolution of 1979, which saw the overthrow of Iran’s monarchy and its replacement with an Islamic republic under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Iran insists that the uprisings today in the Islamic countries today were inspired by Iran’s past revolution. Therefore, these countries share Iran’s goals and ideals, and would be willing to joint such a 100-million-strong force.
